"Where there is game, there is cheater."
Online Games is known as one of the biggest entertainment industry nowaday. It is very common that there are a lot of issues around this particular way of entertaining such as violence, gaming addict, etc. However, this blog post is not going to look into mass community's concern toward Online Gaming but will concern Online Gaming community itself, an issue that they have to face in their own gaming life which is called "Cheaters". This issue is not only applied to gamers but also game providers.
In every game, there are cheaters. But when the subject is not just about fun but money is involved, noone wants a cheater in their game.
ZDNet reports that Online Game is a money making industry, however the cheaters and hackers might cause the game providers to make much less money than they could have made because no one wants to pay to play a game where no matter how hard working they are, they can not win over the cheaters. It's very hard to points out who is a cheater and who is just smart at playing with good tactic (Yan and Choi) so most likely people that abuse the game rule one way or another are considered cheaters.
There are many ways to cheat in an online games. However, there are three ways that are more common and cause more damage to gamers as well as game providers than any other ways. The are Hacking, Botting and Scamming.

ReplyDeleteAnyway.. As you explained, Gaming cheater is a big problem in the world...And game items can be consumed in these days.. So cheating other`s item is kind of stealing other`s property..
There is no strong legislation to regulate the problem....
Government should make strong one that regulate this problem.
Hi Yoon :D I'm happy that you pass by :D. Yupe, it's a big problem that people can just cheat in game and make a lot of money but no government would do anything about it. Like McGraw said the law only concern about copyright of the game, nothing in the says that you can't cheat in game.

ReplyDeleteGaming cheaters are such a big issue in todays society, esp when money is involved. It's scary the thought of knowing that there are hackers,botters and scammers out there who are willing to do anything to win a game through cheating.
I'm agreeing with Yoon on the fact that the government is turning the blind eye on this HUGE problem!! But what McGraw has said is also another way of telling people that cheating is ok aslong as you don't copyright. Something that seriously needs to be looked at more. AS i always say "A fair game is a good game" haha
Hello I read your post inrestingly. I also support Yoon's opinion that cheating is steealing other's property. I also think that game is entertainment - must be fun and enjoying all of consumers. Some measures needs to stop cheating that make fun for only a few people otherwise that game is not enojoiable for all consumers.
